Preparing the food
We had to peel the potatoes.  Sometimes the peel had a lot of the potato still left on it.  We then cut up the potatoes and washed them.  Then we dumped them into the pot of water and ran butter around the edge to keep the water from foaming and boiling over the pan.  The potatoes were cooked until tender when we added butter, salt and pepper adding just enough milk to mash them with until they were smooth and creamy. (We found a few lumps though.)
The turkey was thawed and washed.  Lemon and salt rubbed on the inside.  Then melted butter, salt, & pepper were rubbed on the outside.  Then the turkey was placed with the breast of the turkey down so the juice would baste it thoroughly.  The cooking time was about 3 1/2 hours.

The cornbread was baked ahead of time.  Then we crumbled slices of white bread with the cornbread added diced celery & onions along with poultry seasoning, salt and pepper and a couple of beaten eggs.  Broth from the turkey was used to moisten the dressing before baking it.

We have to confess:
1.  The we used can green beans and raw peeled baby carrots to serve as well as
2.  that the pies were all store bought and then baked.  We did not have an oven at school to bake in.
